Okay so I’m playing catch-up here. Over the last month or so of my absence there have been so many things that I have been loving: cushions, recipes, blogs and ALL THE BOOKS! So let’s play catch-up together okay? I’ll tell you all about what I’ve been loving lately, and then you can do the same. Deal? Done!
So in March, I decided to have a little shift around of things here and these two guys ended up in our bedroom and I am loving them! The blue one is honestly the softest thing ever, I could sleep on it and the grey one is quilted as well as being geometric. Be still my beating heart! That said, I thinking of a complete do-ver for in here with navy blue linen and white, blush pink and grey cushions. Thoughts? Or should I leave it white? I also need to sort out artwork for above the bed. #firstworldproblems
So being on a calorie controlled, gluten free, dairy free diet is so not easy when the weather gets cold. Yes, Pie, I am looking at you. So, just in case you are also wanting to be a little healthier right now, here are some of my absolute favourite recipes that I have been loving lately…
Simple Baked Eggs – my go-to for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I have no shame
Italian Chicken & Autumn Veggies Gnocchi Soup – I just use GF gnocchi or make my own
Sticky Apple Cinnamon Tea Cake – totally not GF or DF but I’ve made it used Oat Milk & GF flour and it was so good!
So it’ll come as no surprise that I’ve had my head buried in one book or another these past two months, but I have been absolutely terrible at keeping up with Book Club. I know, I know. I totally missed April’s A Dictionary of Mutual Understanding but I am heading out to the library to pick up Jenny Eclair’s Moving for May just as soon as I’ve finished writing this post. In the meantime – this is what I’ve actually been reading lately.
The Liar by Nora Roberts
I love Nora as a rule, but this one was bloody fantastic. Even my father-in-law read, and loved it! Also, The Obsession is amazing too!
After You by JoJo Moyes
After finishing Me Before You, then watching the film, there’s now way I wasn’t going to read this. It will make you cry but bloody hell it’s so good. I couldn’t stop. Read it now!
The Traitor’s Wife by Allison Pataki
It took me a little while to get into this but I carried on, and I’m so glad I did.
Reunion Pass and Miracle Road by Emily March
I first read one of Emily’s books at Christmas – Christmas in Eternity Springs – and I am officially hooked. Easy reading but oh so good!
I currently also have Philippa Gregory’s Three Sisters, Three Queens and JoJo Moyes’ Silver Bay on my bedside and I’m loving both. And before you ask, yes I do have more than one book on the go at once – I read depending on my mood.
I’ve pretty much been reading the same blogs for years now, but I’ve noted of late that my tastes have changed. I don’t visit the same sites I did at 25, or even 28. And it’s the same with my Instagram feed. Yes, I run a blog. But it’s personal. This isn’t for profit, it’s an online journal of my life. And I’ve wanted what I see to reflect that. So I’ve been culling, Less fashion, materialism and celebrity (though I never followed the Dash/Jenn clan in the first place) and more slow living and hygge. So when my dear friend, Phoebe, announced she was going to write a new blog, I was more than a little excited. It launched today (hence why this post is a little later than usual) and I’ve already read the whole damn thing. Other blogs that have made the cut: Cup of Jo, Baby Mac, Simply Danish Living, Florence Finds and Minimalist Baker amongst many others!
So that’s me lovely. Now your turn – what have you been up to lately?
